Hi all,
My PC is giving some beeps after I reboot..
1 long beep, 3 short beeps, long pause, 1 short beep.
My Motherboard is Asus P5Q with AMI Bios.
What can this mean ?
I tried re-seating RAM, Video card, External hard drive, but in vain.

Sounds like your memory stick(s) are not seated properly or are bad. In the future you can look up the beep codes. Just search on "PC Error Beep Codes"

The manual for your motherboard should also have the beep codes in it.

@Spookster
Tried re-seating the memory sticks... but to no avail. Also, I had checked the link you suggested, but that does not give the description for the beep pattern i am getting.
@oracleguy
Yeh I had checked the manual of the motherboard but it does not give the description of this particular problem

From the P5Q manual I found online:
One continuous beep followed by two short beeps then a pause (repeated)-No memory detected
One continuous beep followed by three short beeps-No VGA detected
One continuous beep followed by four short beeps-Hardware component failure
So it sounds like the video card or perhaps your board is possibly toast. If you have onboard video, try taking out your card and see if it posts.

the beep sequence i am getting is
1 Continuous 3 Short pause AND 1 Short (Not Repeated, Waited for around 15 mns)
Tried replacing ram (which is working fine in another computer before and after placing in my computer) Video card and hard drive.
No change in the beep sequence.

As Oracleguy pointed out look up the beep code in the manual for your particular motherboard model. Otherwise we can only guess. There are several different versions of the P5Q. What is the exact model number of your board? What kind of video card do you have? Nvidia or ATI based? Was this PC previously working and just started doing this or did you replace a piece of hardware or did you just build this PC?
