Quiet Storm 04-02-2003, 11:04 PM The Storm - "Buckle your seatbelt, Dorothy..." (http://www.angelfire.com/mo2/cbch21/index2.html)
I've been lurking around the net for a while and finally decided to put online everything I've learned so far. Above is my very first site, can someone let me know what they think? It's coded for IE5+/Win only, so please excuse.
:D
cg9com 04-03-2003, 05:41 AM this is new, i thought ive seen this before?
anyway, nice job it looks very sleek, me like.
joh6nn 04-03-2003, 07:57 AM yeah, i've been to your various sites on more than one occasion. the only thing that bothers me, is that you block people with other browsers, from even getting in. that's a pain in the butt. especially since your site works fine in mozilla. other than the browser blocking, the site's really nice
ronaldb66 04-03-2003, 08:09 AM since you seem to be a fellow countryman I don't want to be too harsh, but I detest chromeless windows, the first window after clicking "The Storm" took forever to load, and much of the type (like the links) is very small. I have good eyes, but that gives me a headache... Layout and concept very nice, by the way.
Block other browsers? In Moz and Opera 7 I get this page:
http://www.angelfire.com/mo2/cbch21/xBrowser.html
In Opera 6 I get a blank white page.
In Netscape 4 I get a black page with an iframe containing Anglefire's 404.
In IE5 I get more JavaScript errors popping up than I can be bothered to close.
In Lynx I get in fine after fighting some frames off. Is this a site for text browsers maybe? :)
In that case - lose the frames. Not popular among text browser folks. :D
mafunk 04-03-2003, 09:49 PM Nice, clean design!
Quiet Storm 04-03-2003, 09:56 PM Thank you! :D
I't not really my first design... it's my second - that's been upgraded for 7 years.
cg9com 04-03-2003, 10:13 PM i would say the only downside (as posted above) is the slow loading through the chromeless. :D
Quiet Storm 04-03-2003, 10:17 PM Slow loading, huh?
I'm on a T1, so can't see it (loads in ~10 seconds). What's everyone else on?
Just wondering...
cg9com 04-04-2003, 02:06 AM 56k and DSL, havnt tried on the DSL yet ....
10 seconds on a T1? that sounds slow to me ...
Mhtml 04-04-2003, 04:10 AM Chromeless windows aren't XP friendly are they? I read once on dynamic drive when I was going to use the script they had there for it that it wasn't so I didn't do it.
[edit: I left the window open and loading while I typed up this post, so when I whent back to look at it  I was shocked that it hadn't loaded at all..
Sorry Quiet Storm but I didn't even look at your page... wouldn't even if it had something I wanted. WAAAY to long a load.
56k by the way.
cg9com 04-04-2003, 05:38 AM chromeless is out in IE6 SP1 one thinks. :)
mouse 04-04-2003, 05:40 AM Quiet Storm's a seasoned pro imo :D
Very nice page, there seem to be a scripting error, I didn't look for it but otherwise I like it alot.
webmarkart 04-05-2003, 05:33 AM Pretty nice but the scrolling area is a bit small. I can deal with it though.
By the way... take off two hits on your "no war counter" for my visits... as I support the war... but thats a whole other issue.
missing-score 04-05-2003, 09:34 AM Im on 56K with windows XP and the page didn't take long. about 30 seconds.
Maybe I was lucky :p
Weirdan 04-05-2003, 10:50 AM Using auto-translation, especially from altavista, is definitely bad idea. I've read your page in Russian - it's awful. :(
Nice design, btw :)
