reduce image size and weight

How i can reduce an image size and weight by php after a user upload their image to my hosting ?

By using PHP's GD (http://php.ca/manual/en/ref.image.php) library. Look specifically at the imageCreateFrom* functions and imageCopyResized and imageCopyResampled.
