I'm making a website with images for the nav bar. I'm using gifs to avoid the gray boxes around the images in IE, but the images are a little pixelated. Is there a different extension that will not have gray boxes in ie but are smoother? Thanks!
when you say grey boxes do you mean a img border or a link border?

Hello again! I mean the transparent area behind the image is gray, not transparent.
What does the back of the site look like? does it need to be transparent?

GIF is standard image w transparency. But I have used PNG images, producing them in photoshop. Sometimes you run into browser issues with older versions of browsers not showing the image. I haven't had any problems viewing with firefox, IE 7 or chrome

The background color is orange, the images are the names of the links with a swirl behind them that i created in illustrator (the swirl changes color when you mouseover) I guess I could technically add the orange background to the images to fill in the grey spot, but is there a file that is cleaner that won't produce that gray in IE? thanks!
