If this is a serious request and not just advertising of your website then I’d suggest you look into semantic markup (http://boagworld.com/technology/semantic_code_what_why_how/) and progressive enhancement (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_enhancement).

That animated banner at the top is really distracting. A static image might be a better idea.

And as VIPStephan mentioned, the code needs work. You seem to have gone div crazy which means there is no semantics to what you have written. Your menus on the left should be unordered lists, as an example. Not to mention it would make your pages smaller in size (file size wise) and your CSS simpler.

What do you suggest rather than divs? and what do you mean by no semantics?

thanks

On top of everything else your code is invalid. I suggest you run your site through the validator. http://validator.w3.org

Did they teach you any proper web development while you were getting your Web Technology degree?

We mostly did security, ontologies and then ASP in our first year.

Why is our code invalid? to me it is Generally running fine?

Yes, it’s running fine because browsers tend to forgive the odd error but there are standardized definitions about correct and incorrect HTML, and according to these definitions your code isn’t 100% correct even though it looks alright.

That’s the same thing that applies to semantics, by the way. Although you can make text look like a headline by marking it up as div with bold typeface and appropriate size semantically it’s wrong because you haven’t marked it up as headline. For the computer it’s a plain div with no meaning. And a meaning is what semantics are about.

Okay thanks for the help

Anychance can you point out a couple of errors or where we are going wrong?

I think generally all headlines are marked up as headings or I may be wrong?

Use the validator I linked you too. It will point out your coding errors.

Your site is loading again. The validator says you have 365 errors and 6 warnings.

The first few errors mean that all your code should be lowercase not UPPERCASE. and the end tags being missed in your meta data is this

<meta name="Keywords" content="Bike Shop , Mountain Bikes , Road Bikes , Folding Bikes , Tandems , Kids Bikes , Rutland , Lincolnshire , Leicestershire , Cambridgeshire , Kona , Scott , Marin , Orange , Giant , Dawes , Cannondale , Specialized , Cove Bikes , Cycle Hire" />

You need to add the slash to all tags which do not have a closing tag - eg the img tag

That should get your started.

As for using unordered lists to create menus, some suggested reading: http://www.alistapart.com/articles/taminglists/
