Magick for morons

Random emotion-venting rant in which I hope to justify the fact that i started a new thread to ask this silly question:

Good God, why do they have to make all these server software sites so non-user friendly!? :mad: theres always 20 different versions and 20 slightly different downloads for each version, and i dont even know what the heck a binary is. Even the installers make you mess with a buncha ini files and crap!! blah blah etc etc

Now for the loosely related question:

Does anyone know where i can find some info on the functions and methods used in imagemagick? At least GD is explained on php.net's beautiful site... maybe i just feel there should be some kinda giant flashing link on imagemagick.org that says 'YO, here are some instructions, smart guy.' Would that be so hard?
