Check your refresh rate, it may be to low.

If it's not new, it could be a sign of getting a new flat screen LCD ViewSonic!

I know, if I had the money, I would!

lmao... You aren't serious are you? You'd really want an lcd monitor? Well, as long as your not into things like games and movies on your computer I'd say get it, otherwise you'd be wasting your money.

I dunno, I was thinking of dropping £600 (~$1k) on an LCD, I reckon it'll do more than look pretty on my desk ;)

I'd guess it's a refresh rate thing; control panel => display settings => advanced => monitor => refresh rate, select a higher refresh rate.

I play games and movies on my 18 inch flat panel and it plays and looks just fine.

Of course now I have my 32 inch TV hooked up to my puter so I use my TV as the monitor for movies.

I WOULD SO GET A TV AND A DVD ROM TO DO THAT!

(when I have lots of money and live on my own)

Right now I have a ViewSonic 18 inches.. (not flat) It's about... 2 years old? Maybe a bit more?
Very nice looking great.

I never knew LCD were bad for games... Are they really?
Any info on it?

You need one with a quick response time, over 25ms is unacceptible for many people as there is blurring, the fastest are 16ms although I've only seen 17" ones do that. Contrast ratio also matters in DVD's and general use as you end up with blacks looking gray. Using DVI is essential too really for ultimate crispness.
The one I'm looking is a 19" Sony with 25ms response, 700:1 contrast ratio and looks wicked ;)
Viewsonic do some good ones like the VX900 and VG191, they also have a 16ms 17" called the VG171m or something like that.

Oh, I see, thanks mouse!

Accually, mine is 17", not 18"... :p

And it says: "Professional Series PT775"

That old?

I have a CTL 5Gx 15" LCD on my guest computer, its one of those fast response ones and supports refresh rates up to 75Hz. I got it for less than 300. And I've watched a couple DVDs on it to test it out and there isn't any drag. I'd recommend it for people looking for a "dragless" LCD. They make a 17" model too.

At work I use a NEC 1810X 18" and its older but I like it because I can rotate the oriantation of the monitor. So if I'm tryping something in word I can just tilt the monitor into portrait mode.

I didn't know that they had them that fast already, I retract my earlier statement. I'll have to take a look next computer fair, but although they look cool and take up less room they also make your wallet take up less room in your pocket.

I don't think I'll get one over a 19" CRT anyway, not until they have them going as good!

Yeah, I'm going to do that... the only reason I'm getting a dvd player in my puter is because I can do that.

DvD payers are cheap now a days.. The one I had my eye on, droped in, like, $20 CND. Maybe I should get it now instead of waiting for my new computer. (I still need money)

Same here lol my design biz is going no where, not one single client and I've almost no idea on how to advertise.

What components have you got in mind for your new computer?
CPU, MOBO, Video etc...

Some updates no included, nor features I want due to the fact, I only care about updating the high prioridy items, and look for the best deals where ever I can find them...

There are some monitors with 16ms rise+fall time, that are pretty impressive...
