images of people, servers, etc

Where do sites get images of people, servers, cars etc from? See images of a woman smiling, two men shaking hands, servers on their own with no ppl in the reflections of the glass, cars in 'just the right places', etc, do these companies buy photo cd's of people and hardware etc, or do they take photos of their staff and servers etc?

Is there a place online where I can get these images from? either free downloads or paid for to go on a cd?

I have always heard these type of photos being called "stock photos". I did a quick search on google for "stock photos" and it came up with a lot of different places. Give it a try.

Some good cheap places to use them on commercial sites would be

If you find any sites that give them out free make sure you can use them in commerical projects. Most only allow free images in personal projects.
