I am extremely new to programming, I began researching and looking for a good way to begin programming as of yesterday. I have downloaded Python 3.0 and a large ebook containing many different tutorials. Unfortunately, I am not even smart enough to finish the first tutorial. I am sure this will be an easy question for most of you...

The tutorial states:

>>>> print 'hello world'
print 2 ** 100

and when I enter: print 'hello world', it says syntax error and has an arrow like this one "^" pointing to the quotes around the 'hello world'

Plz Help, It seems like it may be a problem with the interpreter and I may just need to reinstall, but I would like to see some opinions before I do anything.

Try this.

print ("hello world")

Nothing wrong with what you typed unless something has changed in newer versions of Python. See attached screen shot.
