View Full Version : Dreamweaver - How do I get it to highlight a closing tag when I click on the opening?

Pretty odd that I can't figure this out, but it's a feature that's in almost all other coding programs.

I'm using CS4, and I'm hoping to find a way in which it will highlight the closing tag when I click/select the opening one, and vice versa.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello,

Wherever your cursor currently is in the code it will show all the parent tags just at the bottom of the window. If you want to select the tag you are currently in just select the one furthest to the right and it will highlight it.

I have the same problem with DW. It seems to be such an advanced program but does not have the functionality that many free one have.

I am looking for a more Notepad++ style feature to highlight tags. It is proven very helpful!

May be there is an extension for that

yep ! just totally stupid of Adobe not to have included this feature ... I just switch to NotePad++ as an external editor and then back to use that feature ...

There is another (clunky) somewhat similiar feature in DWCS4 (except it highlights the entire code block) it's described HERE - Verify tags and braces are balanced (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Dreamweaver/10.0_Using/WSc78c5058ca073340dcda9110b1f693f21-7b9fa.html) ...
hopefully in DWCS5 they'll wisen up ...

I too have been trying to get DW to do that simple thing.
Thanks for link, at least that highlights the code, not as good though.
