Hi all,
I just uploaded my new site. I was using MS Frontpage to create my site, now I use XARA instead. I was hoping that someone that knows a thing or two about search engine optimizing could give me a few suggestions on what I need? Like a robot.txt file? Do I really need it? What about a sitemap? Any ideas or input would be greatlly appreciated.

I was using MS Frontpage to create my site, now I use XARA instead. No! You shoudn't use the design view of any WYSIWYG editors to make your document. Instead, you need to hand code your document using the most appropriate tags, to make it semantic (http://boagworld.com/technology/semantic-code-what-why-how).

And NEVER use tables for making your layout, which is very stupid (http://www.hotdesign.com/seybold/).

PS: Welcome to CF!

Thank you. I am not a Professional web designer by any means. I do this site for my family buisiness. I am allways unsure of any code that I write. Therefore I find that even though it might not be best to use a wysiwyg editor, I figure that whatever it is, its better than what I can write.

I wouldn't say using tables for a layout is stupid, but it is wrong. It's an unfortunate mistake Frontpage was designed to do. Most likely because it was around before DIV became the preferred method.

Anyhow, in regards to SEO, you may want to consider adding some text to the home page. It's all images, and offer little content to Google. Another thing you failed to use is heading tags. Headings offer clues to site hierarchy, and keyword value/content.

Final note...Your request form near the bottom. It looks like a banner ad, and your visitors may block that out think that. Make it clearly part of your site so they know they are supposed to look at.
