dynamic embedding of youtube thumbnails/video (as in facebook)

hello. i'm looking for ideas on embedding youtube videos in the same manner that facebook uses... my client has a list of music videos to display on his site and insists on using youtube (ugh)...

he's asked if it is possible to embed the videos in this manner and, while i am aware of how to grab youtube's video thumbnail, i really have no idea where to begin when it comes to the rest of it... so i thought i'd ask for some ideas on it...

another tool that i really like is one that dailymotion uses called videozap as below:
