Hi, I am new here.
I'm unsure if I posted this is the wrong place,
but I am having problems uploading an avatar.
There is no option to upload it.
Help?

1) Just Registered: All new members start with this usergroup. You may not post a signature or polls while in this group.
2) Registered Confirmed: New members who have registered for 1 week or longer, plus have more than 5 posts, graduate to this group. The above two restrictions are removed at this point. You may not use an avatar while in this group.This. I presume it's to prevent spammers and bots from having avatars or something along those lines.

3) Active Member: Registered members who have registered for 3 months or longer, plus have more than 50 posts, graduate to this group. Avatars are now allowed, and users in this group have access to the "Active Members" lounge, a general chit chat area for more senior members.

Also probably to minimise bad and awkward threads in the lounge.

You can only get avatars when your an Active Member...

Ahh, I see.

I'm a member of a few forums and this was never an issue.

Thank u though, it's very understandable!!

Well, originally there were no avatars at all (except the moderator badges) and this was so the forum isn’t being cluttered with lots of irrelevant images and stuff (which is also why the “4 lines max. per signature and no images” rule is in effect). This is not a forum for teenie chit chat or whatever and that’s why originally no avatars were allowed. I kinda liked it, too, and when the discussion came up WA (the super master mod) was also sceptical if he should introduce avatars but eventually he did but at least he limited the maximum size.

So, this is actually not an issue but it’s a wise decision to not allow everything. It keeps the focus on the contents/subject and prevents the forum from becoming like any mediocre forum on the internet.
