View Full Version : FREE quality hosting! testers required - PHASE TWO has started!

Yup! Phase Two is here, a few days earlier than anticipated :D

(For anyone who has no idea what this is about - read this (http://www.codingforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13370) thread - I decided to make a new thread because the other one is long and went off topic, plus a few things have changed)

Anyone who has contacted me before - I may be slow in getting to you, because I have a lot of stuff to do right now, so it will be better to contact me again

The best thing you can do if you want to help test, is to email me:

krycek @ ithium . net

If you go to www.ithium.net you will see there is a new placeholder - the website will be here early April

In case you are not sure about what I want, I basically want people to use my facilities, as you would with any other host, except you don't pay me  instead, I want feedback :p Also, the service you will get at first will not be at the same level as normal, as I will be finetuning things, installing things, etc. hence the whole 'testing' business

You don't have to have any great knowledge of anything, just be able to give feedback and think up ideas :)

Some things have changed from the first post:

- There is now no fixed time limit on the hosting for testers. Testers will receive facilities up until I decide to stop the freebies, and will get plenty of warning of this. Don't worry, you'll get at least three months out of it, perhaps more! :p

- The whole bandwidth and space thing has changed, but not the pricing structure as yet (not that you have to worry about paying, but comments about prices are always appreciated). I always try to fit as much into the price as I can, rather than increase the price.
--- Instead of 1.5Gb of monthly transfer for basic PHP accounts, I'm currently giving 15Gb. This may have to decrease to 10Gb once this goes public, but I hope to keep it high
--- Instead of 3Gb of monthly transfer for MySQL accounts, it's 25Gb for the time being (ditto ditto etc.)
--- Web space is now 1Gb for all accounts, however this is on a flexible system. Basically, that's your minimum allowance - if there is more space available, you can use that too!

- I'm back to using Ensim for now, because a new (and greatly improved) version of Ensim comes out in a week or so. This will give even more stuff

Hmmm, "greatly improved" - nope. Ensim lets me down again. Well, I'm still coding my own panel, as well as considering trying Cpanel for a while...

Well there we go... remember to email me, coz my PM box always seems to fill up quickly and email is easier to keep track of you lol :p

Cheers for any help, feedback, comments, etc.

uhh, you have obviously never heard of "idealism"?

I'm surprised you would ever get any buyers....that actually scares me. You gonna get a lot of emails saying "what's the catch?" :D

Your point is...?

Strange that I got an email from YOU yesterday, asking for some free hosting (which I agreed to) and then you see fit to criticise... what's your gripe? :(

And, so far I have not really had anyone ask what the 'catch' is, although if you ask around you will find that many CF members have signed up.

Cheers Michael!

mattover-matter, if you cannot give a valid reason for what you said, then I have decided not to host you after all. It's my call, and I really don't take kindly to people who behave in the way you do.

LOL :D

KidKoala is an old (and good) friend of mine, Conrad :)

Although, he has no control over who I host ;) lol

I do tend to agree with Nightfire :) This thread has kinda gone a bit wrong

Conrad, I'm around every few hours, still on 56k until BT get their act together with my ADSL - you know my phone number if you need it mate :)

Okay thanks to Mattover-matter, the thread did go slightly off track, lets get it back on track please.

Oh and by the way, Ithium for me so far has been the best service so far, in terms of service and reliability - with no catches.

sorry, I am saying that it is great. If you were not at the forums, I would not trust ya. But, seems how you know your stuff better than me...I will trust ya  I am known to have a weird way of complementing, sorry if I made it seem as I was critizing you. I was saying it may be...too good for the cost. How you gonna make a living?

krycek

lol, mattover-matter, yes you DO have a VERY strange way of 'complimenting'...

anyway, I run my hosting mainly as a hobby. I get paid enough through my freelance work so I don't need to try and make a living out of hosting.

::] krycek [::

PS - thanks for the compliment ionsurge - glad you are satisfied with my humble services :D
