Need a stopwatch type timer Please help!

Hi, I need this quite urgently if anyone can help!

I've tried all day but my limited knowledge has got me nowhere, and I need this done for tomorrow morning!

Basically, I've got game for kids where you click the right coloured circle. Its not really a game as I'm writing my dissertation on designing interfaces for kids. You didn't ned to know that. Basically, I've made a game where you click the right coloured circle to go to the next level, and what I need is a timer that starts when you click "play" and ends when the last circle is clicked. This is so they can see how long it has taken them.

I have searched for a while and Ive managed to make counters but only ones that start when the movie loads and I don't know how to stop them. My action script is pathetic! If you could help, or direct me to a tutorial, it would be much appreciated.

I've got it working now so that the counter starts when you press play. The AS on the first frame is :

clock.text="0";

function countUp() {
clock.text++
}

----------------------

and on the button it's

on (release){
gotoAndPlay ("play");
setInterval(_root.countUp, 1000);
}

----------------------


I just need some way of stopping it when the last button is pressed. I've tried all the ways I can think of but I really don't know what I'm doing. Please help I need this for tomorrow!
