how to write cgi/perl web application.

Hi,
Can any one help me how to write perl/cgi web application which records and displays failed login attempts via secure shell.records about these failed logins,recorded in log file are to be entered in the my sql database.
Its very urgent please can any one help me

Yes first post the code whatever you have got and tell exact places where you are struck.

It'd be much easier to just run shell scripts

regularly cat the secure log, or alternatively grep what you want from it

shell can easily execute mysql commands...

eg

mysql -A <<END_SCRIPT
use atablecalledfred;
delete from personaltally;
delete from businesstally;
insert into personaltally values ($poiss);
insert into businesstally values ($bizz);
insert into overalltally values ($total);




END_SCRIPT

echo "added following values..."
echo "personal: $poiss";
echo "business: $bizz";
echo "total: $total";
