IE vs Firefox

I made a website Here (http://toeristika.webs.com/)

The problem is that it is ****ed up in Internet explorer. I checked everything and I can't find a solution.

I cut my template in pieces. I put them as a background image in a DIV so I can write alineas in the divs. I gave the DIV a height. Why? If u don't give them a height, it wont show the whole background image... Just a piece of it.

Is there a way to show the picture as background image without using height?
Or does someone knows why it is ****ed up in IE?

Background-size:100%; doesnt work btw

You will never get IE to attempt to perform like other more modern browsers without a doctype. Use this on your first line:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">

It doesn't look very good in Opera either, so I think IE is not entirely to blame here. The absence of a doctype isn't helping, as drhowarddrfine rightly points out.

Additionally, you have #topbody with height 40px, containing #menu which has images on height 71px and a 9px padding, total 80px, so #topbody isn't high enough for its contents. You might need to increase the height of TOER_02.gif to accommodate this.

I'd get rid of both #middlebody divs, not sure what purpose they serve.

Then apply background-repeat:repeat-y to #middlebody2.

Give those a try....

I always code my sites for Firefox, IE is extremely picky about stuff.

Very picky but extremely important.

I design everything in firefox too, but never release unless it looks exactly the same in IE and most other modern browsers. If it requires a special IE hack style sheet, so be it :p

Safari, IE, and Firefox are the big 3 IMO

Opera and Chrome are noteworthy

I just tell people to use Firefox 1024 X 768 or go someplace else. :p
