Download a file w/o prompt

I know it sounds like i'm trying something sneaky here, but is there a way to download a file (that wont be cleared when the page file clears) to a users system, to a specific location, without prompting them?

Upon asking this, i think to myself... oh gawd i sure hope not! Think of the potential misuse!!!! However, it would make my world a bit easier, for now.

I saw an article about it on msdn... something about urldownloadtofile, but it looked like a pile of late-IE speicific nonsense.

Is there a possible method for this..? even if i need to add one of those terrible 'trust all content' dealies that would be fine too.

There have been a few bugs found that permit such downloading but I can't tell you whether any of those bugs still exist or not. There is certainly no defined way to perform a silent download as it would constitute a breach of security.
