just trying to understand something about cgi

well this is my first post here, and i really don't know all that much about code at all. but I want to learn and I am working on this project so I kinda need some help.

I have built a "form" for people to fill out on my website. and i want when they click the submit button that it sends the information to me in an email.

Now, I have made my .txt file and uploaded it to my /cgi-bin folder.
but I am having problems with my ACTION line of code.

I keep getting : the requested URL /cgi-bin/SolairgenRegistration.txt was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found Error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.


I am positive that my ACTION is not correct. but i don't know what it should be.
If anyone knows or understands what I'm trying to do here and can offer me advice or a link to where this is explained that would be so much help to me!

Is SolairgenRegistration.txt a Perl script?

Did you upload it in ascii or binary mode?

What are the permission settings on that file?

Can you post the contents of that file and the <form ....> tag?

Hi,

The problem I ran into is that the message body is part of the URL string
and I don't want that. So then I figured Apache::Session would take
care of that and in a way it did. The problem is I am creating a new
session when I go to the next run mode because I am creating a new
instance of my application. How can I 1) eliminate the CGI
param(message) body from being shown on the URL or 2) get just one
session to start? I was going on the thought that since there was a
setup that automagically it would run that once and I would have one
session object.

Any thoughts?
