View Full Version : Realignment in IE

As usual my site looks good in FF and all other browsers but in IE everything is totally realigned. I have put up the template at

http://www.talkpaths.com/blu/Home.html.

As you can see the menu is shifted down and the text on the right is shifted to the right too much.

Hopefully someone can have a look and help me fix it? Any suggestions would be great, or do I need to develop a unique style sheet just for IE?

Thanks!

Fix the errors in your markup first, see http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.talkpaths.com%2Fblu%2FHome.html&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0

Sorry about that, its should validate (HTML/CSS) now. Still looks screwy in IE though, any suggestions?

Thanks

Could it have something to do with this?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Explorer_box_model_bug

But that states that it is fixed in IE7...

Also, that (www.talkpaths.com/blue/Home.html)page is defined by a template, when I view the template itself, the div is more correctly (not totally) positioned (in IE), but once I apply the template to a page it mis-aligns totally, as seen. Could it have something to do with the editable regions of the template? Or possibly the menu hack that are applied to get the menu working in IE (.mainContent_menubtns { zoom: 1;})?

Thanks

Gave up trying to figure out why and fixed with a conditional statement for IE

You talk about conditional comments as though they were a last resort?

I now use three conditionally commented style sheets for IE8, IE7 and IE6 & below. I think it is an elegant solution to the many problems with IE in all versions.

Individual hacks are not because they often don't validate and can be difficult to find when they are spread out in your code rather than put all in one place.
