Hello

How do you get your site link higher up in google?

Iv added keywords and description to everypage and its still on rank 13.

Is there any other ways of getting your site a higher rank?

Thanks

not too many takers for this one so I'll chip in.

You should enter therms like 'seo' or 'search engine optimisation' into your favourite search engine. search engines don;t rely too heavily on description tags etc since they are so open to abouse - or they were in the past. You need a well (semantically) coded set of pages and for good readable content which also has the keywords in it that people might use to try to find you.

Any links you can have to your site should also help but since there are over 100 different bits to the googgle algorythm it's quite a long term project ~ unless you are prepared to pay for sponsored links.

As the previous posts say, research SEO and there are so many different tricks and technics to use that this is going to be an ongoing quest.
Most of all, keep adding and improving your site and its content and over time you will see resaults.

Not anymore it won't.
why do you remove the link? I ask op to post one so we can help him, I don't see anything wrong in that.

A link in a forum does help the site it is directed to, but it also helps the forum, it is called CONTENT. so removing a non spam link is pretty counter productive!

It's against the rules.
See http://www.codingforums.com/rules.htm:

2.1) Signature- Signatures are allowed for registered users who have signed up for 1 week or longer plus made 5+ posts, by defining one within the "User Profile" section of the user CP. Before then you may NOT manually add a sig to your posts, which is considered sig spamming. Signatures should be 4 lines or less, and can contain link(s). Images are NOT allowed. See "Usergroups Explained (http://www.codingforums.com/showthread.php?t=151389)" for details on the various permissions depending on your usergroup.
If he had taken the time to read the rules, like you agree to when you sign up, and waited 3 more days, I wouldn't care all too much.

but that was not a signature, was a link posted after I ask for it to see the content.
I think that removing that link was a mistake. One thing is the signature rule or a post what is obvious a intention to get links for a site and another thing is that case.

oesxyl, did you not receive an email telling you of the 'reply to post'? the full original message as posted by the OP should be there. you can post then post it, so I can try to help too.

duh!! I should have it somewhere too then coz I must have received a reply :) Nope, nexxterra posted and then cyan-light. I got nought in between.

I delete the mail notification because I was convinced that message is keeped on the forum, :)
I see the site, before Cyan remove the link, but I didn't answer because I was busy and I was thinking to give more details latter.
TomWalker or you could send me a link throu PM but to be honest I don't know if my answer will help too much.
The debate here is about removing link because in my opinion TomWalker didn't brake any rule, :)

OK, I have seen your page now and there are two things which stickout for me. There is so much tag soup in your source code that search engines will rate the actual content lower because it is les of your page content. Also, you should put the css into a separate file, for the same reason.

I am not a specialist in seo but I recall reading that the important content should be at the top and the less important stuff beneath. If it is higher up it suggests to the likes of gogle that it is more valuable content.

That's where I would start - remove tables and use divs, and then put your css in a separate file. (it's OK in the source code when building[easier] but afterwards it needs to get out of the 'content' page and be put in its own file

Onpage SEO with unique titles/descrip/tags is key but also some offpage. Social bookmarking, directories, press releases, etc. If both your onpage and your competitors is optimized then offpage becomes the deciding factor.
