View Full Version : Linking my last 2 tabs to their contents

I have a selection of tabs which are holding my sites information, i.e. home, services, contact, etc etc..

HTML:

<ul id="countrytabs" class="shadetabs">
<li><a href="#" rel="country1" class="selected">Home</a></li>
<li><a href="#" rel="country2">Hiring Process</a></li>
<li><a href="#" rel="country3">Services</a></li>
<li><a href="#" rel="country4">Why Choose Us?</a></li>

<li><a href="#" rel="country5">Links</a></li> //added this tab after..
<li><a href="#" rel="country6">Contact</a></li> //added this tab after..

<li><a href="http://www.sbdesign.co.nr">SBDesign</a></li>
</ul>

And then I have <div id="country1" class="tabcontent">my tabs content...</div> for each, using the corresponding tab ID, in my HTML.

Works just fine for the first 4 tabs (and the link tab at the end), but for some reason I cant link the 5th and 6th tabs that I added afterwards.. I can get them to link to the (external) CSS and they have the necessary effects, i.e. 'li a.selected', 'li a.hover'... this lead me to believe its something in my javascript? I've looked but my level of expertise isn't great.

I've gave the new tabs a 'rel' like I presumed I had to (calling them 'country5' and 'country6', thinking they'd follow..) because I thought thats what the jscript looks for, yet I cant link them. It says it links in relation to the previous tab? Can anyone tell me how I can fix this? :confused:

.JS:

this.tabinterfaceid=tabinterfaceid //ID of Tab Menu main container
this.tabs=document.getElementById(tabinterfaceid).getElementsByTagName("a") //Get all tab links within container
this.enabletabpersistence=true
this.hottabspositions=[] //Array to store position of tabs that have a "rel" attr defined, relative to all tab links, within container
this.currentTabIndex=0 //Index of currently selected hot tab (tab with sub content) within hottabspositions[] array
this.subcontentids=[] //Array to store ids of the sub contents ("rel" attr values)
this.revcontentids=[] //Array to store ids of arbitrary contents to expand/contact as well ("rev" attr values)
this.selectedClassTarget="link" //keyword to indicate which target element to assign "selected" CSS class ("linkparent" or "link")
}

ddtabcontent.getCookie=function(Name){

Do I need to change a variable?

If someone could point out where I needed to change something I'd be very grateful :o

Thank you

hmm..

expandtab:function(tabref){
var subcontentid=tabref.getAttribute("rel") //Get id of subcontent to expand
//Get "rev" attr as a string of IDs in the format ",john,george,trey,etc," to easily search through
var associatedrevids=(tabref.getAttribute("rev"))? ","+tabref.getAttribute("rev").replace(/\s+/, "")+"," : ""
this.expandsubcontent(subcontentid)
this.expandrevcontent(associatedrevids)
for (var i=0; i<this.tabs.length; i++){ //Loop through all tabs, and assign only the selected tab the CSS class "selected"
this.getselectedClassTarget(this.tabs[i]).className=(this.tabs[i].getAttribute("rel")==subcontentid)? "selected" : ""
}
if (this.enabletabpersistence) //if persistence enabled, save selected tab position(int) relative to its peers
ddtabcontent.setCookie(this.tabinterfaceid, tabref.tabposition)
this.setcurrenttabindex(tabref.tabposition) //remember position of selected tab within hottabspositions[] array
},

Is this the place I need to change something? If I figure this out I'll post how I've done it in case anyone else needs to know.. but I'm thinking I'm going to need some help, I just seem o be going round in circles :rolleyes:

Resolved :)

An easy fix after further re-assessment, jscript was all correct.. simple matter of a DIV tag. :thumbsup:
