Hi all,

Fast question. I can play audio (and video) using the HTML 5.0 <video> and <audio> tags just fine. I can stop/play/pause etc just fine.

My question is this;

I am currently using Quicktime to play Shoutcast audio streams, can I use the <audio> tag to play streams?

For example, I want to play the following URL from shoutcast

http://yp.shoutcast.com/sbin/tunein-station.pls?id=6807

From the looks of it, it doesn't seem like it. It is likely that the play would stop automatically as soon as it starts, considering the audio stream does not have a start/end. Then again, I might be wrong, though considering the specification doesn't mention anything about such support either, it's more likely that it won't work rather than it will.

Additionally, keep in mind that at the moment it seems that only FireFox and Chrome (nightly builds for both) support the audio tag... and that only partially, so there really isn't that much testing that can be done at this point. Though if you have any of the nightly builds and a link to streaming audio with OGG output... you can just as easily make a simple test page (Probably take about 15 seconds to do) and test it yourself.
