Hello! New member. I recently had to brush up on my HTML skills and grew interested in the subject. Started looking deeper into it and I'm considering a small career shift into web design.
Anyway, this is the site that got me started: profytec.com.ar (http://www.profytec.com.ar).
A few years ago my dad wanted a small web presence for some projects of his, and being too cheap to hire someone instead asked me to do it. I read up a bit on the subject, and put out a basic web design (think it was around 2000, 2002).
A few weeks ago he wanted a small update to the page, and being rusty I started going back over the basics, learned of the advances since, and got a bit excited. I finished the update, but with what I've learned since I did it I know it can be a lot better. For starters, it's a table based design. I know, there's a special spot in hell reserved for me for doing that. But then, I didn't want to tear it down and start anew when I did it. Had to get it done quickly. And I wasn't getting paid.
Leaving that aside, I was curious about what people thought overall of the page, improvements they'd do and the like. As I said, I'm considering moving into web design in a more serious manner. On the plus side, I can pretty much do whatever I want to the site so I have some space to practice. Thinking a little php would really improve manageability of the site (html menus are a pain to update).
So... yeah. Any replies are welcome. I did just check that all the pages validate as strict XHTML 1.0 at least.
