Networking Windows XP Pro and Windows 2000 Server

I am currently running about 20 computers on Windows 2000 Pro each computer logs on to a Windows 2000 Server. I want to upgrade to Windows XP Pro. I have tried doing this before but I got very lost trying to make it so the user logs on to the Network at the welcome screen and it applys the policies. Can anyone point me to documentation about networking Windows XP Pro on a Windows 2000 Pro network?

In order to use winxp on a domain you need to turn off the welcome screen when your logged onto the computer as the administrator.

The welcome screen only allows you to log on locally... its kinda dumb why its enabled by default when most of the people using win xp pro would be logging into a domain in the first place.
