I am trying to add some (simple, lol ) ajax to my cms.
Currently reading the cgi-ajax module in cpan, I wonder if any of you know of a idiot-proof tutorial. I'm under (my own), time pressure to do this and need to learn it all 'yesterday'.
any pointers you can give me would be sanity-saving.
You need a basic Ajax tutorial or Perl-specific help? I have some experience with Perl, and I can get by if I need to. But for my point of view, if the script returns some value to the Ajax call, it's pretty much language agnostic on the server end.
What is it you're looking to do, exactly?
I have a text box where a company name is to be filled in. If after the fourth letter is entered to the text box, there are matches in the db I want the matches to show up like a drop down from the text box. Then the inputter can choose the correct one and it'll be put into the session.
I have no ajax or js knowledge and so (whilst I have the connection request code), I do not know how to use it to query the db as the data is being entered.

Thanks for the reply. My naivety on this one shows clearly. I read about it on w3schools and it showed a necessity to use php as well as AJAX. Because I prefer perl, I thought what I am aiming for requires perl with a bit of AJAX. As you say, it must be the other way about. :)
So, at the risk of cross-posting, I shall ask a question in the ajax forum.
