Howdy!

I've got a question! Could I know the performance difference between dual processors ie paired identical processors seated in a single mobo and a dual core processor in a single mobo? Will there be any performance gain between each of the case? Many thanks in advance!

Kind regards

You can't truly compare it this way since you are comparing apples with bannanas...

Any modern processors is multicore even the server ones (in fact they were before "consumer" ones).

So having a single quad core processor PC VS a PC with two dual core processor is hardly comparable in general.

If all the hardware is the same (except motherboards and processor), I guess some applications will be faster on one build and some on the other, it depends which kind of applications you use... Games for examples can be faster on one quad processor while business will be much faster on server build (2 processors).

You know usually on a dual processor motherborad you won't put "regular" processor... You usually put Xeons, Opterons... Why pay premium prices motherboard to put "cheap" processors on it (often in that case the mobo price is higher that it's 2 processors).

the power as well will be a big issue with a computerwith duel processors (2 identical) will require alot more power (better PSU) and heat heat dispersion (= even more power) which Inevitability means more money.
