I am having massive problems trying to set up a simple network. Just one desktop PC and a laptop. I have even removed my Windows 7 and re-installed Windows Vista to try to overcome the problem. The problem is the same with both operating systems.
I can use the printer from either computer. I can read anything I have shared, from the desktop to the laptop. When I try it the other way round, accessing the Laptop from the Desktop, I can see the Laptop but I do not have permission to access the Laptop. I have removed all restrictions UAC, firewall and antivirus, I have taken ownership of virtually everthing except the kitchen sink. Still to no avail.
I really do need help with this one.Someone, please give me the Kiss of Life.:D

Has NOBODY any suggestions?
Obviously not.
Thanks to all who previously helped me.

No need to be that way. Not many of us are using Windows 7. On top of that its STILL in beta. It hasn't officially gone to RC1 yet. Obviously we've helped you as much as we can. If you still can't get it right then you are either doing something wrong or simply put Windows 7 can't talk to Vista yet or your network won't allow what you are doing. No need for sarcasm.

Aero, It wasn't meant to be other than humourous. I really did not mean to appear sarcastic. That is not my nature. I love this forum and greatly appreciate the expert advice received. Sorry if I inadvertently offended anyone.:o
Actually, I have re-installed Vista back on to the two computers with the same result. Printer works from both. Data access only works one way.

I acknowledge my inability to understand this. But I have used the wizard and taken the usb memory stick to the other computer. I have set sharing to the maximum possible. Switched off the UAC. Clicked the Laptop from the desktop only to be told that I do not have permission to read from the files there.
EDIT: I have installed the network yet again, and to my astonishment, it now works correctly.
I cannot tell you why because I do not know. I installed it in exactly the same manner, using the wizard (so called?)
This time it worked!Phew!
In total friendship.

I'm running RC1 (it's build 7100).
