hi
im a complete newbie on this subject but dont shoot me down,. im trying to make my ideas work!

i need a program to run an windows vista that can take a notepad file with a list of lottery numbers, and purchase those numbers for the uk national lottery.

my main question is, is it possible?

but also, is it likely to be time consuming or expensive or both?

regards

Reading numbers from a text file will be no problem. Whether you can then buy tickets using the text file numbers I'm not sure. Not being from the UK (and not being one that plays the lottery) I'm unsure whether they provide avenues for this.

A quick look at the UK lottery webpage seemed to show 2 ways of buying tickets.

1. Through the website. It's probably possible to write a program to read the webpage and fill in fields (lottery numbers), however, I personally don't have any experience in this field.

2. Sending a Text message from your mobile phone. Again, it's probably possible to write a program to generate a text message and send it based on the information in the Text file. Unfortunately, once again I have limited knowledge of how to implement something like this. This article might be helpful in identifying implementation possibilities if this is a viable option: http://www.wirelessdevnet.com/channels/java/features/simplewire/

There's a couple of ideas, with some further research you might be able to establish if either of the above options are do-able or whether you have other options.

than ks for your reply, that has given me something to work with. the reason i ask is because i am working on something that could mean purchasing many hundreds of lottery tickets every week. obviously the admin in this is time consuming, i dont fancy spending hours every day filling out playslips! lol
