Hello,
Please go to Vimeo.com.
There is a video panel at the bottom - if one clicks on the arrow the videos scroll. Can this be done with CSS or is this another language that manages this..?

At Hulu.com in the video toolbar there is a button that "lowers the lights" - essentially dims the surrounding area. Also, if one clicks on the embed button a popup opens up. What code is used to manage this..?

I'd like to integrate some of these effects into my site and and advice as to the use of the effects would be appreciated. Will it take a lot to code this and would I be limiting the amount of users who may not have the right computer/software to benefit from these effects.

Thanks for the support
Andy

part 1. This is done using a javascript framework, html and css. You can find examples - jQuery Carousel (http://sorgalla.com/projects/jcarousel/examples/static_simple.html)

jQuery is cross browser compatible and it degrades gracefully!

part2. Unfortunately I can't stream the videos as Im outside the US. I see the button you mean but can't click it, but it's done in flash.

I don't develop flash but there will be plenty of tutorials out there,

Hope this Helps!

http://www.ajaxdaddy.com/demo-jquery-carousel.html
http://www.gmarwaha.com/jquery/jcarousellite/
http://plugins.jquery.com/project/jquery-carousel

Flash

Of course, there are many more out there, try searching with the keywords: "jquery carousel" or "flash carousel" etc..
