Hi all..

I currently have a drop down menu like this...
Menu Test (http://www.monarchcottages.com/evans/test9/)
(the 2nd line of navigation)
but need to make a menu that is just one single line, until you click on the link and go to THAT page and then there's another line of navigation for that page..make sense? to explain a wee bit more...
on my navigation it drops down when you mouseover, on the menu I need to make you don't even know there's a drop down until you click on the item, then go to the next page...I have noooo clue what that kind of navigation is called, so I can't begin to search for tutorials on how to do it! My other menu was done with Visual Quick Menu - cheating I know, but for a newbie it worked out swell!

any ideas?

I see I've either stumped everyone or not explained myself well...:p ..I'll go with the latter! It's like a drop line menu..but on mine, when you mouseover it shows you the options...on the one i want to TRY to build it would not have a drop down, and then on the page you clicked to go to, there would be the submenu already displayed. not dropping down on mouseover. am i making this worse? :p

well if im just guessing with the info you've provided:

you would have your home page with the nav links:

-Buy Now!
-portrait Gallery
-graduation gallery
-blog
-book now

then when you click on the link it will take you to the relevant page (i.e if you click portrait gallery it will take you to the portrait gallery page) which will have the navigation:

-Buy Now!
-portrait video
-senior video
-painting video
-portrait Gallery
-graduation gallery
-blog
-book now

and so on. is this what your trying to achieve?

close!
it would be horizontal tho...
buy now....portrait gallery...graduation gallery...blog...book now
then if you clicked on portrait gallery the top navigation would look exactly the same (as above) and then there would be a submenu that appeared with the portrait gallery sub links ...
buy now....portrait gallery...graduation gallery...blog...book now
portrait video....senior video....painting video
on the 2 separate lines...is this a CSS possibility or does it move into javascript or....?

like this...drop line (http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/simple_dropline.html)
but it doesn't er..drop...but the drop shows on the next page, statically.

sigh...i'm making this worse aren't i?

Just put an extra menu div where you need it on each page with the appropriate links?

dunno? and if so, doesn't that make the style sheet kind of useless for that particular item? or is it a hidden thing? I'm without clue!!! i'll keep poking away and see if i can find something more exactly what i'm looking for....thanks for your help everyone!

As long as you give the menu the same id on each page, you only have to style it once. The only thing that changes from page to page is the links correct? That is, you don't need it to change positions or colors. Only the content of the sub-menu changes?

it is yes....i never thought of it that way....lol..i'm trying so hard to get out of the "table and HTML" mindset that that one just passed me by...
so if i just make another div, and style it with the colors and hovers and etc that i want, and then just change the links on every page? that makes sense...thank you fbomb for breaking my brain out of the box....
if i basically use the same styles as the menu above it, and just change the links in the HTML, and move the insertion point down to right below the upper nav (is this another float?) that should work right? or am i over-simplifying? (remember - clueless, first CSS layout, panicking)
gosh that's a load off my mind to think of it like that! thanks again!
