ie problems- new windows not loading properly??

ie is mucking up on me now (if it's not one thing with computers it's another).

whenever I click on a link that tries to open the requested page in a new browser window, or if the new window is a javascript page, the page doesn't load. All I get is the outside edges, like a picture frame, of the new window with nothing in the middle and it just hangs there doing nothing until I click the little 'x' and it goes away.

i suspect some of these auto updates from MS might be to blame but i don't know. what should i do? should i uninstall and then re-install ie? I looked under 'add/remove programs' and i couldn't find ie.

There is a self repair function on IE when you select it in Add/Remove Programs. Might try that, although if IE isn't showing in the list then you've a problem... there might be something in add/remove windows components...
