need help with win98SE

please help me
Ive been trying to restore n old compact presario 5330 windows 98 was all messed up so i tried to reformat and tried win xp that did not work what i did is put the hard drive into my machine reformated it and re installed it in the compact it did not work

Well, one thing to do would be to post this in some forum which is relevant to your requirement. This is the Javascript forum - nothing at all to do wth hardware or operating systems. You should try something like Virtual Dr.

if you put it into a windows XP computer and formatted it you may have used NTFS file system. windows 98 cannot read NTFS. put it back into the other PC and format it with FAT32. or else boot off the windows 98 boot disk or cd and run "format c:\"
