Hi All,

I have downloaded a fix to get rid of the grey background on Transparent PNG images.

the read me says
You should use the conditional statement in your html:

<!--[if lt IE 7]>
<script type="text/javascript" src="unitpngfix.js"></script>

to make sure that it only loads in IE6.

but when i insert this into my dreamweaver page in the heading its greyed out "like a comment" should i remove the <!-- bits or is it supposed to be grey'd out?

cheers all,

p.s is there a way to test my site in diferent browsers without downloading them?

many thanks

It's supposed to be greyed out. That's just the syntax highlighting; most (if not all) code editors have that feature. One of IE's peculiarities is that it still processes the information in certain kinds of comments (like the conditional comment you have above), whereas all other browsers won't.

The question is: Does it work? To test your site in IE a couple of options are:

- IETester (http://www.my-debugbar.com/wiki/IETester/HomePage) (buggy but works most of the time)
- Browsershots.org (http://www.browsershots.org/) (very useful but there's a wait and you can't interact with the site)

Of course the ideal option is just to find somebody who still has IE6 installed, but that's getting harder and harder--a good thing, too, since there will come a day when its userbase will drop low enough that most of us will choose to discontinue support.

Applied the code and using browsershots.org checked the page in IE6 and it looks fine now :)

Thanks mate
