View Full Version : SEO feedback
You know everything I have studied on SEO talks about content relevancy to a page and the keywords you choose. But no one really talks about placing relevant content towards the beginning of you pages opening body tag, even though there is this huge consensus that says you should try your hardest to do so.
So my question I guess is, what is everyone's feelings on placing your pages content immediately after the opening body tag, and placing your navigation links and header information after your content?
(Visual of the page is not a factor cause CSS can take care of making it look like the navigation comes first even though its not)
Its kind of a content vs. link crawling.
Who do you think would come out on top on search engines?

it matters when you first broadcast the page or site.
the bots come and do a drive by on the first run so that's why it's important to put your main topic in the beginning and the end of the article.
depending on the site you may not even have the keywords in the article to rank well with that page.
obtaining backlinks with the right anchor text is huge
the google bomb proves this theory that you dont need the words on the actual page to rank well for it.
This is how George Bush's profile was #1 for the keyword 'miserable failure'
banker0679, thanks for the reply. I already am aware of back linking being of most importance in proving relevancy to a page.
My real question I guess is do people feel its better to dish you content up frist proceeding the open body tag or navigation links to other articles and content on your site?
Who thinks its better to have content come first and risk the chance of crawlers not finding you sites main links cause they proceed large amounts of content, or vies-verse. Should I be concerned that my sites main links are drawing away from a particular pages content and or topic of discussion?
Again I am not really concerned about other SEO tactics I just wanted to get general consensus of what peoples thoughts on content vs sites links and placement between the two.

SEO Traking is better:
I have a system that tells me when a bot has index one of my sites on my server basily it check for reppeted hits to different pages in quicker then 5 seconds per page and log the host name if the host name is a know bot it will link the the site with search tags for that page
E.G Google Bot index'ed link to http://www.google.co.uk/search?q={tags} then you can see how high in google you were indexed tells you weather you need better tags or not works like a treat and clients pay a fortune when we show them there code then roughly how high if we SEO there site for them hehe

Again thanks, but I fail to see how this related to the topic at hand. I am glad that you have a tracking utility, however this is not of my concern right now.
We all know each site can be different from the rest in how well or even if it gets ranked at all. So yes I am well aware of combining everything one can do to preform better SEO results, but this is not the question at hand.
Aside from tracking hits by engines.
Aside from back linking tactics.
Aside from keywords all together.
Aside from all the basic SEO knowledge out there.
I am purely talking about content and sites main links placement in a page folks.
SO again best scenario is:
Crawler spends time reading links and less time reading content?
or
Crawler spends time reading content and less time reading links?
Who is going to come out on top with higher content relevancy quicker?
