For IE i used Activex and its working fine.
What i have to do for Firefox?
What is the alternative for Activex to handle in Firefox?
Thanks in advance...

And what do you do if the user does not have MS Word installed on their machine?? No possible way the ".doc" file can be opened, then.
I'm curious as to what you mean by opening the .doc file via JS coding.

Assume, in that machine Doc is installed.
Using script, i want to open that file using firefox.
Thanks in advance..
There was a FF add-on or plug-in in order to emulate ActiveX in FF, but it does not work in FF2+ anymore, and I did not hear about an up-date.
Ironically enough, there might be a workaround, but only if the user has installed OpenOffice instead of MSOffice. OpenOffice has a plug-in which can be activated from the application and installed in FF. But even so, I am not sure it will work in FF3...
The user may also install the "Send to Google Docs" add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8552, but I don't know how you could inform the user that he needs that add-on, nor how you may persuade him to do that...
By short, I don't think there is a reasonable easy way do do that.
