Hey everyone!:) I would like to know if I would need to create 2 separate MySQL databases if I am hosting a forum, and also implementing a comments script on my website to store comments.

Would using one MySQL database for both functions (forum and comments) be fine? Or would they conflict in some way? I already have the forum set up, now I just need to put a comments script onto my website for my visitors to discuss my blogging entries I have there.

Btw, the comments script I am talking about is the one by Scripts Mill (http://www.scriptsmill.com/comments.html)

Thanks!

Why do you need to add an extra database for the same site? You could add the required tables to your existing database.

I have no idea. I have no web development experience?:D

I just thought having 2 databases would make my site easier to maintain. I'm gonna assume it would be safe then. :)

Thanks!

your data is related and thus belongs in one database.

using two databases would make things more difficult to maintain as well.
