LAMP Server Infrastructure

I am trying to reach out to PHP/LAMP stack developers to get a better understanding of the challenges you may face when dealing with server infrastructure.

For example, would you rather have different systems for Apache, file storage, and database functions or do you prefer to have it all in one?

I work with many infrastructure providers that have many IT building blocks. SANs, content delivery networks, load balancers, virtualization and other technologies. When I often deal with clients running LAMP powered applications, I find that they are not leveraging these tools, some of which could save them money and deliver better performance.

Just looking for feedback on IT infrastructure concerns as it relates to LAMP hosting.

I am sure in this forum we have people smart enough to answer your question.
I am more into the programming languages, and when I have questions on how to balance servers, apache, networks, and issues like that, I go directly to the System Administrators forum, might want to try that.

The answer to that really depends on your needs and, at least in part, to your data and traffic volumes. Starting out, LAMP is almost certainly enough but if you grow large enough or have enough data volumes the additional pieces of an infrastructure may well come into play.

For the "average" person and web site LAMP will probably always be sufficient for their needs.
