xquery doc() function

where the doc() function has to be located to extract a xml file, for example:
doc("books.xml")?

well i dont have a clue on that, i am following this tut:

they talk about this function but i dont understand in wich language it's implemented nor where it must be added, anyway i use javascript for working with xml.

sorry, I can't help you, I have no idea how to use xquery with xml. I hope somebody else could help.

looks like this function needs implementation , it is not something native as i thought.
