I didn't browse anything, but it looks pretty good to me (IE7).
However, according to the w3c, neither the markup (http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.chefdato.com%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0) or CSS (http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.chefdato.com%2F&profile=css21&usermedium=all&warning=1&lang=en) is valid.

I got 39 Errors on W3C.

I am not a designer, but idea was mine and still in working process. I plan to do remaining part by myself.

I checked it om my friends computer which is running XP and most likely he has IE5 there. It was terrible looking.

my understanding is i have too many images there and i need to eliminate some of them. Just do not know where to start and what to do. I think there are few unnecessary elements. Or i might be wrong and it is ok?

Right now i have codder hired who did html & css and i have to give him feedback for final revision with list of things need to fix. After which i will have to fix everything by myself.

Do you see anything here, if you were me you would make designer correct it?

Thanks for your time and help.

I'd recommend to cure the divitis (http://csscreator.com/?q=divitis) (a lot of divs with no real purpose, which can be avoided)
Take a look at http://bonrouge.com/2c-hf-fluid.php to see a good 2 column layout.

A javascript error is preventing anything from appearing inside of the "Upcoming Events" section for me in IE7. Seems to work in FF2 though except for the fact that the dates appear in white which makes them all but invisible against the background.

Your "direction" page (which should be "directions") doesn't seem to be finished -- it only has a placeholder for the google map that is supposed to go here. The same issues are present with the reservations page.

The "restaurant" page is displaying this raw javascript code on the page:
widgetListSize = 5;
addLoadEvent(loadCalendarWidget);

The "catering" page has some bad formatting that is causing your page to display like this:
Afettato
Misto
$8
sliced assortment of Prosciutto di Parma, Speck, and Casalingo Salami
Sweet
Potato
and
Rosemary
Biscuits
$5
lavender infused honey
Marvesta
Farms
Wood
Roasted
Shrimp
$8
lemon, rosemary, evoo, sea salt, caramelized onion
Roasted
Beets
$6
arugula, goat cheese, mustard vinaigrette

The "contact" and "RSS feed" links at the bottom just link back to the home page.

Some of the above, I'm sure, is due to the page being a work in-progress. Even so, these are important issues to have cleared up before closing the contract with your developer.

Definitely insist on getting valid code according to the W3c standards. You're paying this person so you should expect clean results. That's about it for the mechanical issues.

Stylistically I would say that the header needs work. The logo is a little weak and the size of the header is too large. I also think that the side menu is too wide given the size of the items in the menu. These are just matters of taste, however. The more important stuff is above.

Thank you very much. Your replay was so helpful. I was looking for events dates and could not figure out what was the problem. I fixed it and feel so happy now :D

I am entering content there and that why pages look funky. The designer is designing custom wordpress template. The pages as menu, contact, direction and as well are one which i am working on. also plugins and widgets are things i am working with.

I have someone working on smaller and new logo design and will change it.

You are right header is too large and i will fix it.

I don't know about side menu. I plan to enlarge and change font style. maybe move whole webpage to the left for little bit ,instead of having it centered?

Thanks to every one here for quick and valuable replay
