open save and close extension with script

Good day:

I am looking to open file.exc, save and close file.exc with a java script. I want to keep it in the same location and keep it the same name.

c:\S9000\program\jobs\file

JavaScript is purely a client-side language, and unless used with an Ajax call has no capability to read from or write to a file (except a cookie), access a database or the client's operating system, or alter the default behaviour of the browser.

If you only use IE, you can do this using ActiveX. Try MSDN (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx) search for FileSystemObject.
