I am trying to create a new layout for my whole site.

I have gotten pretty far now but still I remain to have two problems.

First problem: I got a small space at the top of my page between the menu and the solid light background I got and the second is that my light solid background goes to far down the page. I only want the background to extend as long as the page is.

my test page is:

my css can be found at:

Thanks:thumbsup:

Hello Robin,
Amazing how many full-height layouts are being done right now. Seems like everyone that comes to this forum is doing one.

First problem: I got a small space at the top of my page between the menu and the solid light background

@charset "utf-8";
/* CSS Document */
* {
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
}
/*header starts*/
#A1000{
background-image:url(../banner/3.jpg);
background-repeat:repeat-x;
height:120px;
margin:0px;
padding:0px;
}

#A1001{
background-image:url(../banner/1.jpg);
background-repeat:no-repeat;
height:120px;
width:310px;
float:left;
margin:0px;}

That bit in red should fix the gap. It may affect other things in your layout too. It's the universal reset. It zeros out all default margin/padding so you may need to specify margin/padding in places.
.......

the second is that my light solid background goes to far down the page. I only want the background to extend as long as the page is.

I see your .wrapper, .footer and .push are set up in your CSS for a full height layout the way this site shows - http://nopeople.com/CSS/full-height-layout/index.html - but I don't see it being implemented in your markup. There is no .push or .wrapper in your HTML...

Thanks I'll give that stuff a shot tomorrow morning. I was just not sure how to implement the stuff for full hight but now that you gave me that demo page I think I'll be able to figure it out better now.
