Hi,

I have 2 computers running on W2K, one of them has a file named gendel32.exe in the root. I don't know what it does, a search on google didn't provide much information. I don't have the guts to execute it because i'm scared that i launch a virus on my machine. Anyone of you who knows what the file is for?

According to this thread it is a dialer program... I also can't find any references to the file itself...

Right-click on the file and see what it's properties say about it. Of them you can find the maker of the program and what software package it is a part of. Of course the location of the code file may also tell you where it came from.

If all else fails... Download the following program: http://silverpaw3d.com/cf/netmon160.exe This will monitor connections to your machine, it's a nice little tool. See who the dialer dials then look up the ip.

I updated my version of Ad-Aware, let it scan my system. Didn't identify the file as spyware or something else. Ended up just deleting the file. Now we wait and see what happens.
I will try that netmon tool later.

Thanks for all advice
