IE 6 - - issue with layout

Hi all,

I have racked my brain on this one. In IE6 this layout fails - the right column falls below content. The page is valid xhtml (trans). It uses an include to embed a php gallery script. If I remove the include the page falls back into place.... so I assume it's within the nuts and bolts of the script. But I'll be danged if I can figure out what it is that's breaking IE6! :confused:

It's been my experience that when a column drops like that it could be a width, and/or margin issue. But I have been through all of that.

I would appreciate any help in this one. Turns out the offices of this particular HS are using old Windows 2000 with IE6.

Dreamweaver reports 2 expanding box problems, along with a bunch of extra whitespace bugs.

Adding this moves the section up in IE6:#wrapper {display:inline}

edit: of course, that's not the ideal solution, particularly editing THAT tag, but it works.

Thanks Fisher! That does work!! I should have thought of trying that as it's bailed me out of IE6 problems before - again Thanks!!!

Now, however, I'm curious as to why that's not the ideal solution? What would the ideal solution be?

display:inline; is going to collapse the div to it's content. display:inline; is not a good way to fix float drop. The best way would be to float that column right, remove width and float from your left column and let it size itself to the remaining space.

Look at how this 2-column layout is done. http://nopeople.com/CSS/equal_length_columns/index.html Same principal but it's the left column that's floated left.
