My family bought a brand new HP Pavilion 522n at the beginning of October. With in two days
we took it back because we had no sound. They replaced it. Recently the floppy drive bay door
broke preventing us from inserting floppy discs. Again they took it and looked at it. The HP
technician decided to go for an express exchange but it was going to take forever to get the new
one so they gave us our computer to use until they got the replacement in. Got it home hooked it
up and it refused to boot up. The motherboard is toast. Has anyone else had trouble like this
with an HP? Or is it just dumb luck?
Thank you,
The Bee

I had an older pavilion before, wasn't unreliable, but it made me never want another HP again.

my friend has an HP, he had problems with it, so he returned it to the company a couple times to be fixed, every time he got it back not only was it slower but it was still broken :(

i did hear good things about the HP-Compaq mix

The only thing good that HP makes is laser printers and servers. IMO.

Hence the reason they bought out Compaq... Compaq makes a pretty good and reliable pc... We use them exclusively and in all I can honestly say I have not had nothing outside the normal wear and tear type problems... Just so you know we have approximately 2000...

A friend of mine bought an HP, he had the same problem with sound. Turned out it had somehow disabled itself in the bios.

Do you know the motherboard is toast? It could be something as stupid as the HP technician not plugging the power socket into the board. I'd open it up and make sure everything is in order.

Nope the HP Technitian didn't even bother to take the case off he just looked at the floopy disk drive door said yep it's toast and walked out. Also the sound Bios thing we went through that with an HP Tech and it didn't work.
