I have just finished the first version of my forum, and I was hoping that a few of you could try it and tell me what you think.

I have only just put it up, but I need to know what to work on.

lol. I forgot to put the address , it's http://forums.itk-network.com

Hi, looking good , but even though its PHP this is not the right place to post as the PHP forum is specifically for PHP questions , now in saying that there is not a 'right' place to put this post until the pit is reopened ;)

- till then moving you to general

On the main page you might want to add who moderates each forum.

It's looking great...I think it may have some potential. My biggest piece of advise is this:

Make sure it's extremely customizable

When someone is setting up a forum on their website, they want to be able to easily redesign it (Change the look). They also want to change things like the icons, default permissions, custom profile entries, etc.

Just remember that as soon as you finish your product, people will download it and change it right away. There's nothing you can do to stop it...and I would think it's a good thing. People generally put some acknowledgement on there (like this site does...look at the bottom of the page). So, help them out...make it easy to change it in every thinkable way...and that will be your bigest selling point.

I didn't know that, sorry.

I have just about finished the admins panel, all I need to do is move thread and then I will have finished that.

If anyone has any criticisims, please post them.

Thanks for your support

I have seen places that offer free mysql dbs for use on your site...I would recommend that you look into that because boards runing without mysql tend to become VERY slow very fast. If not, if you have a site that demands a lot of user interaction, look into switching hosts... Ci-host.com usually has a $10/month deal going on and their service it excellent...

I could set you up a board with MySQL for 10 a year. My hosting lets me have lots of DBs if I buy them.

they offer mysql for free

Lycos.co.uk do aswell.

The main reason I have this domain name is cos I couldn't use the lycos and coolfreepages DB properly. They R a bit dodgy at times.

For now I am just testing my files. I tested the delete post section of the admin page and it worked. I will delete the threads now. Thanks 4 telling me.

I have updated it again. I have added next and back buttons to the forum display files.

If you try the address forums.itk-network.com and it doesnt work properly, I apologise, as I am probably giving a demo of the install or uninstall system.

I also need someone to test the admin panel. If you signup then post Back Here I will make you an admin for a while.
