I have three or four ideas that I think are viable, but I have come to the painful (to my ego) realization that I probably don't have the time it would take to become skilled enough to complete these on my own. I think these ideas have potential, I think that one of them has a pretty immediate need even.

What I am looking for is someone to collaborate with. I am willing (wanting) to do a lot of the work and learn along the way, but I am limited in my skills at this time, and also limited as far as having the time it would take to get my abilities to where they need to be. I am trying to do these things while having the "necessary evil" of a 9 - 5 job to support the family, etc...

I would prefer to do things in PHP/MySQL, though I am not religiously opposed at all to ASP.NET either, really it depends on what enables us to get the job done in a way that makes everyone happy with the end result.

My background is: I have dabbled mostly in PHP. I have not really touched ASP since before .NET, though I have worked a bit with C#. I have also explored Ruby on Rails, but I am not what I would call proficient in any of these, and I am really more of a networking guy by trade and more of a hobbyist when it comes to coding.

Anyway, please reply either here or by email if interested.

Hi Jim,

Could you be a little more descriptive on some of the ideas, or at least what kinds of skills they would use?

Hi Jeremy,

All of these ideas require adding information to a database(s), retrieving data, ability to search on certain criteria, etc... Come to think of it a lot of the code is probably interchangeable with little modification. Some of them are more simple than others. I think they will all require some degree of user authentication/administration, but nothing extremely intricate.

I am hesitant to go into great detail in public because a few of these ideas have potential of making some money. I hope the above information helps a little.

Thanks,

Jim

That was helpful, and I understand your reluctance to open up online. I have the same kinds of ideas too!

My bigger thought is if it is possible to do something using a CMS which can drastically speed up dev time. If you are willing to disclose a little more detain by PM, then I would gladly give you some thoughts or possibly help.

Don't worry, I have about 20 of my own ideas, I won't steal it because I have other ones to do!

Where is Steger by the way, I'm a native to a small town near Kankakee.

Hey Jeremy,

Steger is North of Kankakee, near Chicago Heights if you've ever heard of that.

I will PM you later with more details.

Hi Jim -

I live in Homewood, just north of you. I'm an experienced ASP.NET, C#, Windows, web farm, etc. developer looking for just this type of partnership right now. I'd like to discuss what you're thinking and how I can help.
