Yesterday, my PC started to log me on to a temp user, and I cant seem to find a way to fix it. All of my Documents has gone, but the remaining size of the hard drive has remained the same, I have tried any methods I can find on the internet. One method suggested deleting the registry key for the affected user, but I dont want to do this in fear of loosing all my files. Anyone have any suggestions? Im running on Vista Home Premium.
Thanks in advance

I believe your user profile has become corrupted. Its likely you files are still there under the users folder on the C drive unless you moved the users folder elsewhere. I suggest logging into safe mode as an admin, create another profile, move your files. Delete the old profile, and rename the new one to what you want it to be. This is basically what I said except it involves the registry. I think it will be fine.

Just make sure you backup that Temp folder before doing anything.

I have tried that, but there nothing there. In the Users Folder there is the folders: Temp.Tom-PC, TEMP, Default and Public, Within those folder there is none of my documents, the hard drive says theres still the same ammount of free space as there was before the profile corrupted suggesting that the data is still there somewhere but i cant find it anywhere =/

Login using safe mode under the administrator account. This may allow you to see those files.

There is a free program "Free Commander (http://www.freecommander.com/)" that I used in similar circumstances, that will show up hidden files. Might be worth a try. It's a file handling program.
