Hello,

I really want to create a site that is just a forum (similar to this site), however, there are soooo many forum sites out there that it can seem discouraging. I can easily create one, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what I could make a forum for that hasn't already been done 500 times. Can anyone give me some suggestions?

Thanks,

What are you interested/knowledgeable in? If you're not savvy and/or passionate about the forum's topic, then it's not going to go anywhere. Kind of like deciding to start a seafood restaurant when your passion in life is collecting stamps.

Well, I'm interested in Computers, webdesign, helping people with software/hardware issues, Christianity, health, education, school, finances, economics, business... those are a few but there are already tons of forums on those topics. I guess my question is, is it even possible to start a forum on one of those topics and get people to come to it when they already exist?

I'll refer to a post I made in one of your other threads: http://www.codingforums.com/showpost.php?p=781922&postcount=5

It can be really hard to start a forum only website in a well populated area of the Internet. However if you have a website attached to it at first, you can use that to bring people in.

It's really hard to think of a topic since pretty much everything is done. Unless something new comes up such as a new tv show or a new electronic product, you can build a forum around those topics.

As Oracle Guy says its tough and unless you have a website or a site niche that caters to a specific niche, then its very hard to get it going. I myself entertain the idea of a forum on my site as sub directory but i don`t know how to exactly build it from scratch.
The best thing is if something like a craze shows up on magazines and tv shows that becomes so popular then it might be a good idea to pick on that.
Or if you have a passion for something that really is like a pet to you then probably that can be a good start.

Just my 2 cents
