Best Buy has this in their flyer today and it's the first I've heard of Netbooks. It's described as more of a mobile device. I get lost when I read the specs on computers. Can someone explain how this is different than a traditional laptop? Thanks!

A netbook is smaller and lighter than a laptop. They also sacrifice some performance and screen size for overall size and longer battery life. These types of computers are great for people that just use the Internet, IM, word processing, music, etc. but don't do anything that requires a lot more power such as video games, software development, virtual machines or video and/or graphics manipulation.

One of the most popular line of netbooks is made by ASUS, their EEE PC line. Dell makes netbooks under their Inspiron Mini line as well.

I personally wouldn't get a netbook with Windows on it, simply because Linux will traditionally be more efficient with what processing power is available. And usually the netbooks with Windows on them are more expensive (because you have to pay for a Windows license).

Another thing to be aware of with netbooks is that some times depending on make and model the keyboard might have smaller buttons and/or have a few of the keys (such as /, ' or \) repositioned slightly.

But now many dell,Toshiba, HP and even acer is coming with windwos XP.. I bougt thosihiba little old with windwos XP home edition OS CD. And also found in many models with OS install automaticall while first start up.. And the price is reasonable...
Also me suggest all to go for windows.. all MS product can install on it and also fell more better than Linux...So its not wise to avoid Windows for paying little...
